The Strategic Partnership Unit (SPU) located within the Impact Centre’s main function is to facilitate and support partnerships within the HSRC to deliver on its strategic mandate, aims and purpose of the institution. The SPU ensures alignment of partnership to the mandate and research priorities of the HSRC and ensures that the HSRC employs a more strategic, value-driven approach to partnerships. It facilitates and coordinates collaboration and networking to expand the profile of the HSRC, guide and nurture key relationships and ensure maximum benefit to all parties concerned. Additionally, the unit has the mandate to source funding opportunities for the larger Impact Centre to ensure it’s sustainability. The Strategic Partnership unit within the Impact Centre is looking to appoint a suitably qualified professional to take on the responsibilities of Liaison Officer.
Job Functions: Research, Research and Development Industries Research Specification Liaison Officer: Impact Centre Five (5) Year Fixed Term Contract Office Base: Durban / Pretoria or / Cape Town REF: IC SL/10/20 The following are the key responsibilities for the Liaison Officer: •Map, manage and update the database of key stakeholders; •Support partnership meetings and activities; •Assist in the preparation of partner specific reports, newsletters and minutes; •Scan and identify databases and websites for relevant funding opportunities in line with the HSRC’s strategy; •Search, select, summarise and capture information on funding opportunities advertised in printed and electronic media; •Source, complete and collate funding and tender documents; •Identify and build relationships with key HSRC stakeholders i.e government, other science councils, civil society as well as regional and international stakeholders; •Build visible national, continental and international research partnerships in the HSRC’s area of specialisation; •Ensure that research grants are well managed and that good relationships with collaborators and grant making organisations/institutions are maintained. Key requirements: •Minimum of an Hons degree in social sciences or administration; •High level of computer literacy, especially in the MS office Suite-MS Word, Excel, Access and Project and database management; •At least 5 years’ experience of which three (3) years should be in stakeholder or partnership engagements; •Familiar with the Science and Innovation landscape; •Experience in providing funding support in a large institution; •Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively to demanding deadlines; •Excellent writing, personal and professional communication and analytical skills; •Ability to work in a team as well as independently; •Personal qualities that include intellectual and personal integrity, imagination, drive, and the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
