Job Functions: Research and Development Industries: Research Specification The Survey will be conducted in the following district areas Mopani – DC33, Vhembe – DC34, Capricorn – DC35, Waterberg – DC36, and Sekhukhune – DC47. Please be advised that should you apply for more than one position, you will need to submit more than one C.V. (one C.V per application per District, with the relevant District code, as outlined in the reference number) Fieldwork Interviews / data collection will be preceded by training, which will be provided by HSRC. Successful applicants will need to ensure that they are able to avail themselves for the full duration of the project (including the training period). Successful applicants will be assigned according to their proximity to the identified districts.
Key Responsibilities: •Participate in training and briefing session in preparation for the fieldwork; •To administer approximately 170 questionnaires; •Screen potential participants with respect to eligibility; •Obtain informed consent from the study participants; •Ensure the accuracy and completeness of questionnaires on a daily. •Ensure the accurate digital recording of interviews; •Ensure the timeous submission of completed questionnaires and digital records of all data collected; •Submit daily registers of work done; and •Keep records of important observations and submit these in a word document to team leaders every Friday of a working week. Key Requirements: •A Minimum completed NQF level 6 qualification from a recognized South African university or TVET College; •Experience in qualitative and quantitative fieldwork i.e. undertakings surveys, focus group discussions and key informant interviews; •Experience with digital data collection methods & equipment (tablets); •Fluency in English and any of the local languages in the identified districts (Venda, XiTsonga, SePedi, SiSwati, IsiZulu, IsiNdebele) is a key requirement; •Flexibility and willingness to take on additional tasks as per requirements; •Must be resident in any Districts in the province as indicated above and must be able to travel to the research areas or central point of collection; •High personal motivation and self-management; •Articulate and tactful communication skills; •Accuracy and attention to detail; •Prior fieldwork experience with HSRC will be an added advantage; •Good interpersonal, facilitation, and problem-solving skills; •Successful applicants will be evaluated during training and over the duration of the fieldwork and if any part of this work is not completed to the satisfactory level as required; the appointment will be terminated; •Availability to work from January to February 2021; and be available to work over weekends if required; and •SA Citizens only.
