HUMAN SCIENCE RESEARCH COUNCIL (HSRC) DIRECTOR: FACILITIES & OHS Company: Human Sciences Research Council Reference #: Dir: FAC - OHS 10/2020 Contract Type: Contract 5 Years Salary: Market Related Location: Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa Introduction: OPERATIONS This portfolio encompasses four units in Operations which provide the infrastructure and administrative platform for achieving the organisation’s overall goals. These are: Buildings & Maintenance, Facilities, Occupational Health and Safety, and Protection Services. The HSRC is looking for a dynamic individual who will direct, plan, organise and coordinate the activities of these units and report directly to the Group Executive: Shared Services. This position is based in Pretoria and oversees the activities in the four locations.
•Monitor the unit’s budget including revenues, expenditures and budget projection, etc.;
•Managing all areas of risk in the four portfolios; •Establish direction, goals, and policies for the units under his/her control; •Initiate the development of policies and procedures governing these units under his/her responsibility; •Ensure that the assets and premises of the HSRC are managed appropriately; •Analyse alternatives to cut costs and provide efficient services; •Conduct and submit security assessments at least once a year for all HSRC offices; •Compile & submit monthly security status reports to the Group Executive: Shared Services; •Manage and control all security related information on criminal activities; •Ensure that all Occupational Health and Safety requirements are met.
Key requirements: •A minimum of 10 years’ experience in this field, of which a minimum of 5 years should be at senior management level; •A relevant degree (NQF 7) qualification; •Sound report writing skills and sound computer literacy in the MS Office Suite; •Ability to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate the unit’s strategy; •Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with staff from diverse backgrounds; •Advanced negotiation and contract management skills; •Ability to foster a cooperative work environment coupled with problem solving and analytical skills; •Excellent understanding of procurement procedures; •Track record of performance management skills; •Ability to examine and re-engineer operations and procedures, formulate policy, develop and implement new strategies and procedures.
