Key Performance Areas: Managing key performance areas and result indicators associated with the implementation of capital, rehabilitative and maintenance projects and the co-ordination of specific services through analysis, investigation and interpretation of needs, interaction and communication with functional, and community based role-players, formulation of contracts and project plans for approval and execution and application of procedures regulations and standards in order to ensure priorities identified in the Integrated Development Plan are afforded adequate attention. Identifying and defining immediate, short and long term objectives/ plans associated with the development and maintenance of Infrastructure to support service delivery by keeping abreast with technological developments and legislative imperatives supporting community improvement and upgrade of core essential services. Presenting a conceptual framework of current and future interventions (water; waste water; electrification; roads and stormwater infrastructure) necessary to achieve acceptable levels and standards of service delivery to the Director: Technical Services for consideration and inclusion Into the department's short/ long term performance and service delivery plans. BUILDING TECHNICIAN REF. NO: 18/19 Fixed term employment contract until 30 June 2022 T.A.S.K: 12 Basic salary: R278 112.00 — R361 008 per annum Structural component: R139 046.94 — R162 355.91 per annum Total package: R417 158.94 — R523 363.91 per annum Requirements: the applicant must be in possession of a National Diploma B- Degree in Civil Engineering/Construction. Three to four Years' relevant experience in the building industry. Knowledge of the National Building Regulations, Town Planning Schemes and Occupational Health and Safety Laws. The successful candidate mustbe willing to work independently and outside normal working hours. Excellent knowledge of Local Government Legislation. Sound knowledge of relevant computer programmes. Code 08 driver's license. Registration with theCouncil for Built Environment of South Africa will be an added advantage. Knowledge, skills, training and competencies required: Knowledge of the National Building Regulations, Town Planning Schemes, and Occupational Health and Safety Laws and departmental guidelines. Excellent prioritizing and ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously. Ability to work in a pressurized environment. Proven organizational skills and work flow. Good inter-personal skills. Advanced computer skills. Ability to interpret relevant legislation regulating housing. Key Performance Areas: coordinating sequences associated with monitoring compliance with standards, procedures, regulations and specifications encompassed in National Building Regulations and Town Planning Schemes with regards to the submission of plans for approval and construction of building, preparing and presenting investigational and qualitative reports, processing/ approving specific transactional work documentation and issuing of compliance notices to align practices. Providing technical support to Local Authorities, emerging contractor's, building plans and other players involved in housing deliverables. Visiting specific work-sites and conducting inspections to establish materials, the construction of the work and procedures are in accordance with the approved design drawings, specifications, statutory regulations (National Building Regulations) and town Planning Schemes. Undertaking specific tests at various stages of construction to check tolerances, compaction and compare findings with stipulated specifications/requirements. Measuring and determining conformity to specifications of screen walls, openings and interior angles and arches and checking the use of protective materials and layers to prevent water penetration cracks, etc. Evaluating and commenting on the adequacy of supporting structures, ventilation and waste water drainage systems.
