ESTATE AGENCY AFFAIRS BOARD OF SOUTH AFRICA
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the following position:
Overall responsibilities: • To ensure and manage corporate governance within the Board and EAAB in accordance with legislative prescribes and best practice • To proactively manage the required stakeholder relations in order to ensure the effective functioning of the EAAB Board of Directors and its sub-committees and to ensure compliance with good corporate governance and other legislative and statutory requirements.
Requirements: • LLB or equivalent qualification • A minimum of 5 years experience in a corporate secretariat or legal environment • CIS professional membership will be an added advantage • Understanding of Corporate Governance Frameworks, knowledge of Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and of the National Treasury Regulation • A good understanding of the Government structures and the relationships between Government (as a Shareholder) and the public entities • Working knowledge of legislation affecting the business and its implications on the Board • Interpersonal, organising and leadership skills • Values, Integrity, Emotional Intelligence and results oriented • Compliance and adherence to time-frames • Ability to work under pressure • Ability to pay attention to detail.
Key responsibilities: • Ensure Board Governance structures are capacitated and effective • Execute overall accountability for the compliance and risk management system implementation within area of accountability • Comply with fiduciary responsibilities by the Board and Committee members • Provide secretariat and administrative support for Board/Committee • Comprehensive minutes taken of each meeting, typed and timeously distributed • Ensure Board members are informed of legislative and corporate governance developments in writing • Ensure statutory records and minutes are maintained in accordance with legislative and organisational requirements. Develop, monitor and control departmental budget.
Preference will be given to candidates whose appointment will enhance representivity.
