KPA’s: (1) Direct at a strategic level, the development and implementation of Economic Development policies, strategies and programmes by: Representing the strategic economic policy and programme development intent of the Eastern Cape (EC) at National, Provincial and Local government levels; directing Economic research initiatives and the development of customized policies and products to address the specific economic development needs of the EC; directing, monitoring and evaluation processes on the performance of the Programme, report and account thereof; strategically facilitating the integration of the Economic Development Programmme’s strategies and initiatives with that of the Branch: Integrated Environmental and the Branch: Corporate Support and Operations. (2) Strategically direct and manage provincial sector and investment development services by: Facilitating research processes to identify sustainable sector and investment development initiatives for the EC; broker support for identified sector and investment development initiatives; and direct processes to unblock identified sector development and investment barriers. (3) Strategically direct economic development initiatives in line with the National Development Plan and the Provincial Industrial Development Strategy and Job Creation Strategy. At a strategic management level direct and oversee the: development and implementation of local and regional economic development policies, strategies, programmes and instruments; development and implementation of enterprise development policies, strategies, programmes and instruments; provisioning of trade and investment services; development and implementation of economic empowerment policies, strategies, programmes and instruments; and provisioning of economic infrastructure and special instrument services. (4) Strategically direct consumer protection and business regulatory services by: Monitoring and promoting efficient and effective consumer protection services and ensuring effective business regulatory services. (5) Strategically direct consumer protection and business regulatory services: Monitor and promote efficient and effective consumer protection services. Ensure effective business regulatory services. (6) Manage the allocated resources of the Branch in line with legislative and departmental policy directives and comply with corporate governance and planning imperatives: Identify the resource (financial, human and equipment) needs of the Programme required to optimally support the implementation of the Branch’s Annual Performance Plan. Represent the strategic intent of the Programme as part of internal resource allocation processes. Manage and account for the utilisation of the financial resources of the Programme in line with the departmental delegations. Monitor & evaluate and account for the effective and efficient utilisation (value for money) of allocated resources. Mobilise technical support of the business support components to implement and maintain prescribed human resource, financial and supply chain management systems within the Branch. Direct, manage and account for the utilisation of the Branch’s human resources. Based on operational imperatives re-prioritise the allocation of resources within the Branch. Oversee strategic and annual planning processes for the Branch and ensure compliance with DEDEATS Strategic Planning and Performance Review Agenda. Strategically direct the utilisation of technology in support of the Branch’s business processes. Develop and maintain strategic partnerships in support of Branch’s operations.
