The Operations Manager will ensure that the Heritage buildings and site are well-maintained, safe, secure, and aligned with the museum's strategy and mission. The Operations Manager will be a critical member of the Management team, working across multiple departments to ensure delivery of high-quality visitor experience for all Museum visitors. Ensuring implementation of the appropriate strategies (including building preservation, facilities, maintenance, disaster management and business continuity) to achieve operational effectiveness and efficiency whilst ensuring compliance with the Heritage requirements. The Operations Manager will be also responsible for the services management and the process implementation supporting all core business units, by making sure that the company provides and maintains the conducive work environment for all employees and activities in line with the company budget and objectives. Key Responsibilities include: Facilities Management and Maintenance: Efficiently and effectively manage all museum facilities, including the new Visitor Centre, Heritage Buildings, Museums, Exhibition space, Tenanted spaces, the Precinct, and Infrastructure while adhering to Heritage Practices and maintaining the Peoples Park. Staff and Contractor Supervision: Provide oversight to facilities staff and outsourced contractors, ensuring optimal productivity and adherence to service level agreements and value for money. Procurement: Take responsibility for all procurement related to facilities within operational and capital budgets, ensuring cost-effective execution of building maintenance plans. Compliance and Security Operations: Ensure museum compliance with relevant codes and develop a comprehensive security program to protect museum premises, items, personnel, and visitors. Capital Works and Site Safety: Work closely with Finance on capital works scoping and delivery, regularly review safety and operational policies and procedures, and champion health and safety among all staff. Visitor Experience: Maintain fit and pleasant public spaces, and actively support the Visitor Experience team. Transport and Logistics: Manage the organization's fleet and coordinate logistics operations to meet customer demands while ensuring compliance with transportation laws and safety standards. Contract Management: Negotiate and monitor contracts with on-site vendors, ensuring service quality, compliance, and cost-effectiveness. OHSA and heritage Compliance: Keeping the site clean and compliant with OHSA and Heritage requirements Stakeholder management: Pro-active management of key stakeholders including tenants. PUBLIC PROGRAMMES COORDINATOR (PERMANENT CONTRACT WITH THREE MONTHS’ PROBATION, GRADE C5, SALARY R 369 176 TOTAL COST OF EMPLOYMENT) Constitution Hill Development Company seeks to appoint a Public Programmes Coordinator to offer multimodal programmes that are inclusive, and encourage enhance knowledge and understanding, foster respect of human rights and programmes that contribute to the support of creative entrepreneurs. The Programmes coordinator is responsible to forge links between visitors and the museums by encouraging learning through various means including both formal and informal Public Programmes, Events and Signature Programmes (Festivals). To coordinate the implementation of HET business plan relating to public programmes in order to achieve operational effectiveness and efficiency. Key responsibilities include: Programmes Management • Public Programmes (festivals project management, book launches, creative entrepreneurs market access, Conferences, seminars, campaigns, Workshops and material development) • Implement the strategy and plan for all HET programmes, to ensure that relevant programmes are sourced and delivered on in line with best practice and the sites objectives. • Coordinate all relevant public programmes at the site so that the relevance of the site as an information hub is maintained and grown. • Draft and administer relevant documents for payments and ensure that they meet necessary procurement requirements and timelines so that good governance is ensured in the department. • Comply with departmental reporting requirements and internal deadlines. • Operate within relevant policies and procedures for partnering on HET programmes to ensure achievement of strategic objectives. • Oversee programmes and related queries from schools, creative SMMEs, heritage institutions, social justice NGOs, visitors and the general public in a timely manner. • Organise and facilitate Teacher and Leaner workshops and outreach activities. • Review public programme content/learning material and approve as appropriate • Develop of Human Rights focused Materials aimed at public, learners and teachers. • Facilitate lectures and discussions that are focused on Human Rights, Heritage, Tourism, Creative Arts, Constitutionalism and Democracy • Develop project plans, funding proposals, events management schedules, work plans and outcomes on a weekly basis to ensure that timelines and outcomes are predefined and delivered upon in an effective and efficient manner. • Perform all functions of the department in a manner that enhances its image as a museum and a heritage site as well as an information hub in the city. Financial Management • Implement Public Programmes within the confines of the annual budget and in line with the strategy and plan above to ensure that sufficient money is available to meet strategic objectives. • Identify relevant fundraising / sponsorship / funding activities for key Public Programmes.
