The KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority is inviting students to apply for bursaries that will be awarded for the 2026 academic year. Bursaries will be considered for study including but not limited to; Film and TV production, acting for screen, digital skills (Gaming, VFX, VR, AR), and tourism related studies at a recognized KwaZulu-Natal tertiary institution.
 
PREFERENCE GIVEN TO:
• Previously Disadvantaged Individuals
• People Living with Disabilities
• Applicants who study Film and TV production, animation, acting for screen, digital skills (Gaming, VFX, VR, AR), and tourism related studies e.g. Heritage and Cultural Tourism Studies, Eco-Tourism, Hospitality Management, Tourism Management.
• Post-Graduate bursary is considered for Animations ONLY.
 
OUR BURSARY OFFERS:
• Full tuition for public universities.
• Tuition fees for private institutions are capped at government rates.
• A monthly allowance of R1 500.00
• Accommodation for students living at least 50kms+ away from the school.
 
ELIGIBILITY:
• Applicants must be accepted to study Film and TV production, animation, acting for screen, digital skills (Gaming, VFX, VR, AR), and tourism related studies e.g. Heritage and Cultural Tourism Studies, Eco-Tourism, Hospitality Management, Tourism Management
• Must be Residents of KwaZulu-Natal Province

TOURISM KWAZULU NATAL
 
The KwaZulu-Natal Tourism & Film Authority, a statutory authority responsible for the promotion, marketing, and development of tourism and film in KwaZulu-Natal, invites applications from suitably qualified people for the following position:
 

​INDEPENDENT CHAIRPERSON: AUDIT AND RISK COMMITTEE (Ref:  Independent Chairperson ARC)
 
The Audit and Risk Committee as constituted by the KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority Act 02 of 2024 seeks to appoint an independent Chairperson. The Audit and Risk Committee will meet at least four (4) times per annum and/or as determined by the operational needs of the organisation. The successful candidate will be offered a three (3) year performance based contract.
 
Requirements: NQF level 8 relevant post-graduate qualification with a minimum of five years’ experience at senior management in any of the following fields: Accounting/Auditing/Financial Management/Risk Management or related fields. The candidate should be in good standing with the relevant professional bodies (SAICA, IIA, IRBA etc), membership with IODSA will be an added advantage. 
 
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Competencies Required 
Extensive knowledge of PFMA and Treasury regulations. Experience in processing Annual Financial Statements under IFRS and GRAAP. Experience in audit methodologies, financial management, principles relating to governance, risk management and compliance frameworks. Proven experience in serving in Audit or Risk or Compliance Board Committee.
 
Key Responsibilities 
Participate in the development of audit and risk strategies. Review and recommend policies to Board. Provide oversight on governance and compliance. Internal audit quality assurance. Provide an oversight on financial management of the organisation.

Key Result Areas: • Position KZN as a premier leisure tourism destination by Implementing the marketing plan for the identified region. • Manage all trade relations, trade programmes, consumer programmes, familiarization trips and brand development in the identified market segments. • Coordinate and implement trade joint marketing agreements, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of agreements. • Identify and develop cooperative relationships between outbound and inbound tourism trade. • Undertake key account calls, trade workshops and trade exhibitions. • Overall management of staff and projects from planning to finalization and reporting in line with allocated budgets. 
 
Requirements: B Degree/National Diploma in Tourism or Marketing or equivalent. (Three Years) 
 
Required Minimum Work: 5 years business/leisure tourism/marketing experience and 2 years management experience 
 
Competencies: Good communication skills, teamwork and collaboration, decision-making and analytical skills, time management skills.

MANAGER: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & RELATIONS 
DURBAN, KZN CONVENTION BUREAU 
REF: BDM/2022 GRADE: 7

Purpose: Promotes the Durban, KZN Convention Bureau brand amongst prospective bidders, assesses the feasibility of prospective leads and jointly with stakeholders, prepares and submits bid proposals. 
 
Key Result Areas: • Conduct feasibility research into prospective leads and identify possible prospects. • Assist with the drafting of bid proposals and prepare detailed project plans to target identified bids. • Assist in securing sponsorship for specific bids and establishing support committees to ensure the success of secured events.• Assist with delegate boost activations and event hosting. • Establish and maintain regular contact with public sector stakeholders, associations, corporates, business events service providers and attractions in KZN. 
 
Requirements: A degree in Tourism or Marketing, and at least 5 years experience in events organizing or relationship marketing with public and private sector stakeholders, plus experience in preparing bid documents. 
 
Competencies: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, collaboration and negotiation skills, building relationships, conflict management, planning and organizing.
